So, what's the formula?

Through our personal and professional experiences, we have come to realise that getting what you want from life doesn't just happen by chance. Annoying right?

The good news is if you spend time getting clear on what's important to you, what you want and (as important) what you don’t want, you’re more likely to make that life a reality!

After years of researching and testing activities and ideas, we have created a formula to help motivate ourselves to create purposeful lives. It’s equal parts heart and science.

flamingo formula guides you through simple ways to set and achieve meaningful goals across key areas of your life: relationships, career, finances, health, wellbeing and more.

This isn’t about making life more serious or stressful, it's just the opposite. It's about creating the life you want! We're just here to give you tools to help you along the way.

Where it all began

In 2012, things were getting a little out of hand and we wanted more control over the lives we were living.

We decided to get together and do something about it. We booked a weekend away and set an agenda (yes, we’re nerds). The idea was to take some time out, think about what we wanted to achieve, and figure out how to get there.

We loved it.

It was life changing.

And we’ve done it every year since.

Over the course of many weekends, over many years, we've experienced awesome outcomes and lightbulb moments, with lots of laughs (and wine) along the way. Every time we talk about what we do, we always get the same response, “I need to do something like that!”.

With that in mind, we decided to expand our community, build our flock, and invite you to be a part of it!

Flamingo? What the flock?

Flamingos love to socialise, form strong bonds and enjoy belonging to a community. They like to fly, are the epitome of balance and symbolise new experiences and opportunities...and they aren't afraid to stand out.

In fact, the saying "you are what you eat" has never been more true than of the flamingo. The type and quality of nutrients a flamingo consumes are reflected in the colour and vibrancy of their feathers.

flamingo formula is about living with intention, so you can have the flocking fabulous life you want.

Emma Pechey

Oh hi there! I'm Emma, but you can call me Peachie.

I'm currently General Manager at a charity, with a background in Marketing Communications working in fashion, beauty, FMCG and NFP. I'm currently studying a Post Grad in Positive Psychology which feeds right into Flamingo Formula (the science behind our maddness!). But the school of life is what has made me who I am. I grew up in the USA and have also lived in the UK and Phillipines.

I love travelling, meeting interesting people, being immersed in nature and experiencing new cultures, food, wine and good times. I have had my fair share of challenges and success, heartbreak and joy. What keeps me going is a belief that happiness is not something to chase, but a flourishing, fullfilled life is something you can create and the journey is often better than the outcome.

I'm married with no kids and always looking for my next exciting adventure in life.

Michelle Ryan

Yes, there are many ways to shorten Michelle but I've always just been Shell (thank you for obliging).

Over the last two decades, I've worked in corporate communications both in-house and at agencies. And while I love having a plan and goals in my career, I hadn't always applied that same approach to my 'real life'. Oh how things have changed. Now I'm a sucker for a mood-board and I've even roped my poor husband into regular life planning chats (he loves it).

I'm also studying a Post Grad in Positive Psychology. It has helped me realise that our wellbeing is our most important commodity. And it requires attention and intention! It has also helped me reflect on what brings me joy, where I find flow, and what increases my wellbeing...things like (in no particular order) my daughter and husband, adventures and travel, friends and extended family, all things italian, ocean swimming, good food and wine, music, and a good story and belly laugh.

Aideen McDonald

WhoDeenie, Aidi, Macca, Allan, Irish. Call me whatever you want, just don't call before 7am.

I'm a sucker for people. I love meeting other humans who are curious, want to make the most of their days, and who cut the small talk and get straight to the juicy conversations. Connection with and helping people is what I like to do - if I can make a person's day better with a smile or help someone set goals to make their life better, awesome!

Other things that make me happy are swimming in the ocean, laughing outrageously with my family and friends, a medium-bodied red wine, equality, dancing like a crazy person to make my husband laugh, and Christmas. I really love Christmas.

I want to create a life I don't need a holiday from, and I'm getting there!

PS. I've just realised that I've been spelling Peachie's name wrong for about 12 years.
